I'm back! Oh my God I can't believe how long it's been. I'm embarrassed. But being going to school and working two jobs gets a little complicated. Social life? What are social life? I'm rambling.
So if you live in the U.S.A, you know that the east coast has just been hit with a massive snow storm, and my little state of Delaware was smack dab in the middle of it! So today I have what is probably my first snow day since I graduated high school. Woo! So instead of working on my paper (due Friday), I decided to be productive!
(I couldn't include a link because the pinterest page took you to a completely unrelated site. :/ )
I found this gem on Pinterest, and the ballerina in me knew that i just had to try it. I mean how adorable?! Since the picture itself wasn't helpful, I scoured pinterest for one that would, and found this extremely helpful blog. She recommended buying spools of tulle and cutting strips, then simply tying them to a pre-made ring. Thankfully, it was easy enough for even me to handle! Over sixty yards of tulle later, I finally finished! And since I'm a visual learner and need lots of pictures, I may have gone a little overboard. Bear with me…
I chose to use a double layer of tulle for each knot like the blog recommended, and double knotted each one. Above, you can see my first knot and my progress before I quit took a break for about a month. Don't take up this project lightly; it's time consuming and monotonous and the knotting WILL hurt your fingers.
Then I started back up today…and ran out of tulle. Crisis major, because obviously I'm not going anywhere today…
But alas! I remembered I had sparkly tulle! Oh, the sparkles! If you use this, which I highly recommend, be prepared for a mess of glitter proportions. I only used a single layer of sparkly tulle for each know, though, because two made an awkwardly large knot.
A lot of knots and a few Dawson's Creek reruns later, and I finished! Hooray!
I found these glittery snowflakes in the Christmas decorations at Walmart. They were perfect! I hot glued them with my fancy new hot glue gun (it has flowers on it!), and, tadaaa! I hot glued a piece of ribbon to the back (it's glittery blue, I know, I have a problem) to use to hang the wreath. Then I hung it up, posted it on instagram, and admired my pinterest knockoff!
So happy with how it turned out! Have you tried something like this? Did you do anything differently? I want to hear your stories! And one final question: What are your favorite small-space organization hacks? I'm desperate and drowning in stuff!
XOXO Erin
